Montana Beef Council Producer Consent Forms

A recent court decision, prohibiting USDA from allowing the Montana Beef Council to finance its work, unless a rancher gives prior consent, authorizing the council to retain a portion of his or her assessment is a detriment to Montana’s part in driving demand for our product.

We encourage you to sign an official consent form, which is located below.

By law, you must pay the beef checkoff. However, as a result of this decision, unless you provide prior consent authorizing the Montana Beef Council to retain a portion of your assessment, then all of your of your money will be sent to the Cattlemen’s Beef Promotion and Research Board in Denver, CO.

The form can be completed on an annual or monthly basis. For requests submitted annually, the form must be completed each calendar year by January 15, and returned to MBC. For the remainder of calendar year 2018, a producer may complete the form one time by circling “year” and entering month and 2017, which will indicate that the producer consents that MBC is authorized to retain up to 50 cents of their federal $1-per-head assessment for the remaining months in 2018.

If the producer decides to complete the “Montana Producer Request to Retain Beef Checkoff Assessment Form” on a monthly basis, the form must be postmarked to MBC by the 15th of the month following the month the cattle were sold.  We encourage you to keep the 50 Cents of your Federal $1-per-head Beef Checkoff in Montana!

For requests submitted annually, the form must be completed each calendar year by January 15, and returned to MBC.

Complete your form and send to the Montana Beef Council, P.O. Box 80865, Billings, MT 59108 or emailed to: [email protected]. Please contact us with any questions or concerns.
