Montana Stockgrowers Foundation Welcomes Applications for its Heritage Scholarship Program; Offers Over $20,000 in Scholarships to Students in 2026

The Montana Stockgrowers Foundation (MSF) is encouraging students to apply for scholarships through its Heritage Scholarship Program. Combined, the program will award over $20,000 in scholarships in 2026. The annual deadline to apply is March 15. Applications can be found at www.mtbeeffoundation.org

Heritage Scholarship

This scholarship supports college students who are pursuing a four-year degree that strengthens and advances Montana’s ranching industry. This scholarship invests in the next generation of leaders dedicated to preserving the heritage and future of ranching. MSF will award one $6,000, one $4,000, and two $3,000 scholarships. Requirements to apply include: 

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in college and have completed at least one semester in college. Applicants enrolled in Vocational and out of state schools will be accepted.
  • Applicants must be a member, or have at least one parent/guardian who is a member, of the Montana Stockgrowers Association.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

Career and Technical Scholarship

This scholarship supports students pursuing education at vocational, career, trade, or technical institutes to build skills that strengthen Montana’s workforce. It invests in the next generation of professionals whose technical expertise and dedication will sustain the industries that keep our state thriving. MSF will award two $2,000 scholarships. Requirements to apply include: 

  • Scholarships are open to high school seniors or students currently attending an accredited vocational, career, or trade school. 
  • Applicants must be a member, or have at least one parent/guardian who is a member, of the Montana Stockgrowers Association.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a cumulative GPA of at least 2.5.

Over Educated Cowboy Scholarship

The Ansotegui family, through MSF, will offer multiple scholarships to students seeking a profession in the field of animal husbandry. Dr. Raymond “Ray” P. Ansotegui was the consummate ambassador to the cowboy way of life. He supported the future of ranching by balancing the best of tradition with the newest research. After his passing, the Ansotegui family established a memorial fund through MSF to honor Ray’s passion of combining education and the ranching lifestyle. Requirements to apply include: 

  • Applicants must be seeking a profession in the field of animal husbandry. Applicants enrolled in vocational,out of state, and graduate schools will be accepted.
  • Applicants must be a member, or have at least one parent/guardian who is a member, of the Montana Stockgrowers Association.
  • Applicants must demonstrate a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.
