Montana Department of Livestock Auction Market Hearings

The Department of Livestock will hold two hearings to receive public comment on the transfer of both Montana Livestock Auction and Headwaters Livestock Auction ownership/control.  The department has hired Rob Stutz Attorney at Law, to preside over and conduct these hearings.  

The hearings will be held on:

August 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at Montana Livestock Auction, 100 Cattle Drive, Ramsay, MT 59748

On July 15, 2026, Barry McCoy and Dannielle McCoy submitted a petition letter to request the purchase of shares in High Country Livestock, Inc. and assume control of the corporation’s operation of the Montana Livestock Auction market in Ramsay, MT. Additionally, Sandra Nuffer, President of High Country Livestock, Inc., submitted a petition letter in support of the transfer of shares in High Country Livestock, Inc.

August 10, 2026, at 3:00 p.m., at Headwaters Livestock Auction, 25 Wheatland Rd., Three Forks, MT 59752

On July 8, 2026, Cassidy Brunner, Daryn Cederberg, and Jon Kamps, owners of Wheatland Livestock, LLC, submitted a petition letter to request a transfer of the livestock market certificate for Headwaters Livestock Auction in Three Forks, MT to Wheatland Livestock LLC. Additionally, Narvel Blackstock, personal representative of the estate of the owner of Headwaters Livestock Auction, submitted a petition letter in support of the transfer to Wheatland Livestock, LLC.
