HELENA, Mont. (May 24, 2024) – The Montana Stockgrowers Association (MSGA) has selected Hannah Alto, an agricultural communications student at Texas Tech University, as MSGA’s 2024 summer intern. Alto will work with the marketing and communications team from May to August.
Alto is a senior enrolled in the Davis College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources at Texas Tech University, working towards completing a double degree in agricultural communications and education. Coming from a small, rural town on the California-Oregon border, Alto is a fifth generation cattle rancher with deep roots in her county’s ranching culture.
“While I cherished my time growing up on the west coast, I have had the opportunity to immerse myself in many sectors of beef production throughout the United States, which has led me to want to be a positive producer and communicator within the beef industry,”
said Alto.
Upon her graduation in the spring of 2025, Alto aspires to embark on a career in public relations and communications, focusing on cattle membership associations.
The MSGA summer internship program was created to provide students with a hands-on experience of the various facets of association event planning and execution, policy development, social media engagement and coverage, and member engagement. This educational opportunity is made possible by support from the Montana Stockgrowers Foundation.
Additionally, MSGA offers internship opportunities during its Annual Convention and Trade Show in December. Students can learn more about applying at www.mtbeef.org/careers.
The Montana Stockgrowers Association is a grassroots membership organization and is the trusted voice of cattle ranchers. With 140 years of history, MSGA advocates and ensures cattle ranching remains relevant, safe and a sustainable way of life for generations to come.
