Montana Stockgrowers Foundation Awards Grants Supporting Education and Leadership Programs

HELENA, Mont. (January 23, 2024) – The Montana Stockgrowers Foundation (MSF) is pleased to announce their recent grants award of $5,000 to support various agricultural promotions and educational programs throughout Montana.

The Beartooth Stock Association received a grant of $1,000 to support hosting a calving workshop for the youth and families of Stillwater and Carbon County on January 7, 2024. Dr. Katie Rein of Crazy Mountain Vet, detailed some of the complications that ranchers might see during calving season. Participants were encouraged to practice assisted calving on Stella, the traveling bovine. 

The REAL (Resource Education and Agriculture Leadership) Montana program was awarded $2,500 from MSF for their upcoming Class VI. REAL Montana is a two year program offering in-depth education and training in the agriculture and natural resource industries. Also, awarded to this program was $1,000 towards tuition scholarship for a current MSGA Member. Class VI applications are now being accepted and can be found on the REAL Montana website.

MSF also awarded $500 to the Montana Winter Fair. Montana Winter Fair hosts multiple livestock shows, Ag Ambassador and Livestock Judging contests and a Western Expo Trade Show. With roots of origin going back to 1946, Montana Winter Fair is a celebration of Montana’s world-class agricultural production and enviable “western way of life.” The Fair will be January 26 – 28 in Lewistown. 

MSF grants funds to other organizations, programs and events throughout Montana that are strengthening the future of Montana’s cattle industry, helping Montana ranchers, and building bridges between the agriculture industry and our communities.
