BUTTE, Mont. (June 3, 2025) – The Montana Stockgrowers Association (MSGA) concluded its 141st MidYear Meeting on Friday, May 30 in Butte, Montana. The event hosted over 200 livestock producers and ag industry professionals who gathered for two days of policy meetings, market and weather outlooks, and updates from the recently wrapped Montana Legislature.
At the Opening General Session, Meteorologist Brian Bledsoe presented weather modeling and forecasting for the upcoming summer season. Bledsoe shared that producers should anticipate for the summer season to be dryer and warmer than average. National Cattlemen’s Beef Association (NCBA) Vice President, Kim Brackett, shared with attendees federal policy updates and insights on the Reconciliation Bill, Endangered Species Act, and New World Screwworm.
On Thursday evening, the Montana Stockgrowers Foundation’s (MSF) Sunset Banquet raised over $13,500 in support of MSF’s mission to ensure the future of Montana’s cattle industry through producer and public education, and promotion of MSGA programs. Kyle Shobe and the Walk ‘Em Boys closed out the night at the Sunset Banquet After-Party.
To kick off the last day of the MidYear Meeting, Chris Fisk, a retired teacher and Butte historian, shared the colored history of Butte, America during the Coffee Talks session. To close out the day, CattleFax Analyst, Matthew McQuagge, provided attendees with an outlook on cattle markets sharing that consumer demand for beef will continue to rise in 2025 and the beef herd is expected to slowly rebuild in 2026, though much slower than in previous cycles.
