HELENA, Mont. (May 30, 2023) – Shalani Wilcox, an Animal Science and Operations Management student at the College of Southern Idaho, has been chosen to join the Montana Stockgrowers Association team as their summer intern. Wilcox will work with the marketing and communications team through August.

Wilcox grew up in Menan, ID on her family’s SimAngus cow-calf operation, graduated from Madison High School, and served as an Idaho FFA State Officer from 2019 to 2020. While working on the ranch, Shalani learned to love the cattle industry and is often associated with agriculture by her peers. She participated in a variety of ag leadership conferences and seminars including the Idaho Young Cattle Producer Conference and Ag Future America’s Policy Institute in Washington DC. Shalani played a role in planning the inaugural Idaho Farm and Ranch Conference, hosted by a program within the Idaho State Department of Agriculture, which covered the topics of transition planning and farm stress for farm and ranch families.

“I love learning and sharing about all facets of agriculture, especially within the beef industry. This internship will provide a great opportunity to get to know cattle producers in Montana and I am looking forward to broadening my perspective of the influence organizations like MSGA have.”

stated Shalani Wilcox.

“MSGA is excited to have Shalani joining our team for the summer. She has the desire to learn more about communicating on behalf of ranchers and holds many of the traits that make for a great advocate to our industry.”

says Raylee Honeycutt, MSGA Executive Vice President.

In 2023, MSGA revitalized its internship program after the program was on pause for multiple years. The MSGA summer internship program was created to provide students with a hands-on experience of the various facets of association event planning and execution, policy development, social media engagement and coverage, and member engagement. Additionally, MSGA offers internship opportunities during its Annual Convention and Trade Show in December. Students can learn more about applying at www.mtbeef.org/careers.
