Lerum, Donsbach, and Jones Elected by MSGA Membership to Serve on the 2024 Board of Directors

The Montana Stockgrowers Association (MSGA) is excited to announce the 2024 board of directors. The board of directors consists of 13 members; two directors from each district and three elected officers. MSGA directors volunteer their time to travel to meetings to ensure representation of Montana’s ranching families. Representatives from the Montana CattleWomen and Young Stockgrowers also hold seats on the MSGA board. Election results include:

Newly elected directors: 

  • North Central District – Dean Lerum, Galata
    • Dean Lerum is a 4th generation rancher out of Galata, MT. Together Lerum and his family operate a cow/calf named Rocky Ridge Angus. He also runs a bull development center and have just recently started in the embryo/transfer business.
  • South Central District – Kirk Donsbach, Roy
    • Kirk Donsbach owns and operates a cow/calf operation in Central Montana who occasionally runs some calves as stockers. The ranch consists of irrigated deeded acres, private acres, state lands, and BLM. Dean has also held positions as the Vice President of the Fergus County Livestock Association and Indian Butte Montana State Grazing District.
  • Southeastern District – Ty Jones, Miles City
    • Ty Jones runs a cow/calf operation that includes some small grain production southwest of Miles City. The cow herd is Black Angus and runs on a combination of owned and leased ground. Jones has been involved with the ranch since graduating from MSU in 1997. Additionally Jones custom AI cattle as well as work for Agri-Best Feeds as a regional manager.

Rocky Forseth of Helena was also appointed to serve as the Young Stockgrowers Vice Chair. Rocky serves as a customer service specialist and provides cattle procurement services for Allied Genetic Resources. He is also a sales representative for Superior Livestock. Rocky is the Montana Simmental Association president and serves as vice-chair on MSGA’s Cattle Marketing Committee.

  • South Central District – Dusty Hahn, Townsend
  • Southeastern District – Monty Lesh, Miles City
  • Western District – John Hagenbarth, Dillon 
  • Western District – Bob Sitz, Harrison
  • Young Stockgrowers Chair – Ian Glennie, Judith Gap
  • Montana Cattlewomen President – Suze Bohleen

At each annual meeting, up to five district directors are elected or re-elected for a term of two years. Each director will serve up to two consecutive two-year terms, officers will serve up to two consecutive one-year terms.
