MSGA Applauds the Montana Department of Livestock for its Rapid Response to State’s Recent TB Positive Herd

HELENA, Mont. (OCTOBER 13, 2021) – Today, Montana Stockgrowers Association’s President Jim Steinbeisser, released the following statement regarding the discovery of a bovine tuberculosis (TB) positive herd in Blaine County.

“Although last week’s announcement of a confirmed bovine tuberculosis positive herd in Blaine County was something our industry has worked diligently to prevent for decades, it is important to note Montana’s beef industry has not lost its TB-free status and beef remains a safe, nutrient-rich source of protein for consumers,” stated Jim Steinbeisser, MSGA President. “We would like to thank the Montana Department of Livestock and its staff for their diligent work surrounding this positive herd and for their continued dedication to protect Montana’s livestock industry. Additionally, thank you to the producer for their work and cooperation during this difficult time.”

MSGA and its members remain committed to prevent and eradicate transmission of bovine TB in Montana for the protection of Montana’s livestock industry.
