The Montana Stockgrowers Association (MSGA), in partnership with Stockman Bank and Western Ag Network, today launched a new video series Leadership, Legacy and the Land which showcases leaders, success stories, families new and old, conservation efforts, and programs of Montana’s leading livestock industry. The first installment of the series highlights recently elected MSGA’s President, Lesley Robinson, who is the first female president in the organization’s 140-year history.
The goal of Leadership, Legacy and The Land will showcase Montana’s livestock industry professionals and inspire the next generation to keep Montana – Montana. The individuals showcased in the series are working every day to keep legacy ranching possible and Montana lands in production agriculture.
Robinson and her husband, Jim, have been married for 39 years and have ranched their entire lives. They own and operate the Lazy JD Cattle Co., a commercial cow/calf and yearling operation in north central Montana. The family-run ranch has been in the Robinson family since moving from the Miles City area in 1958.
Robinson served on MSGA’s board of directors from 1996-2000 and has spent the last two decades dedicating her time and knowledge to the livestock industry on the local, state, and national levels. Lesley was elected to MSGA’s officer team in 2020, and most recently, was elected to serve as MSGA’s first female president at the conclusion of MSGA’s 2024 Annual Convention and Trade Show in Billings, Mont.
