Stockgrowers Foundation Raises over $1 Million in Donations for Ranchers Affected by Fires in Southeastern Montana and Northern Wyoming

The summer of 2024 presented another active fire season, especially across Southeastern Montana and Northwestern Wyoming. The Remington Fire started in late August 2024 in Sheridan County, WY, and burned thousands of acres, quickly crossing into Montana.

In response to this large, fast-moving fire, affecting many cattle producers in the area, the Montana Stockgrowers Foundation (MSF) reactivated its Wildfire Relief Fund, to raise funds to assist landowners in their recovery and rebuilding. As a 501(c)(3), MSF provided a tax-deductible avenue for donors to contribute to landowners and producers that lost so much in this devastating fire.

MSF and the Montana Stockgrowers Association (MSGA) would like to thank its many generous donors who supported the fire relief efforts through supply and financial donations. Through the generosity of the agriculture community in Montana, and across the country, MSF organized over 70 loads of donated hay and trucking for producers that lost their grazing pasture and winter feed in the fire. Additionally, through the generosity of Hutchinson Western out of Denver, CO, MSF coordinated delivery of over half a million dollars of fencing and building supplies to producers in both Montana and Wyoming.

Over $125,000 in financial contributions were donated with 100% of those donations being distributed to producers through the Rosebud County CattleWomen and Wyoming Stockgrowers Endowment Trust’s grant processes.

Donations are still being accepted through MSF. Contributions will continue to fund future grant requests.

The Montana Stockgrowers Foundation (MSF) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and was established to ensure the future of Montana’s cattle industry through producer and public education, and promotion of MSGA programs.
